1959 Scimitar Station Sedan Experimental by Brooks Stevens and Reutter & Company. 

1954 Carrera Panamericana (Mexican Road Race) Lincoln Capri Custom Coupe by the Lincoln Division, Ford Motor Company. 

1902 Capitol Chariot Prototype, with its single expansion, double-acting Two-cylinder steam power. This car was acquired from the maker by the Harrah Automobile Collection. 

The Minden Automobile Museum was founded by the late Ted Bacon, a former Trustee of the National Automobile Museum, during the 1950s after years of rescuing unwanted or abandoned primarily Vintage and Brass Eras motorcars, both locally in the Minden area and the greater West Coast. Several of the cars presented have been held by the collection for over 60 years. Highlights include a 1947 Ford Super DeLuxe Sportsman Convertible bought new by a member of the Bacon family – one of the first Woody Convertibles produced.

Paris, France – January 30, 2026 (revised sale’s date & time), Bonhams|Cars will present “Les Belles Endormies” a Collection of 11 collector cars, all offered without reserve, at its Polo de Paris Sale. Those cars were discovered lying dormant gathering dust in a garage in Switzerland, all impeccably stored on axle stands waiting to be brought back to life.

The Collection was assembled by Pierre Strinati, a pioneer car enthusiast who started buying cars in the 1950s. In less than a decade, Mr Strinati assembled a collection like few had done before. It included some of the most important motorcars of the 1930s and 1950s such as a Talbot Lago T150C Goutte d’Eau, an Alfa Romeo 8C 2900, a Mercedes-Benz 30SL Gullwing or a BMW 507 (the last two bought new).  He sold most of his cars in the 1980s when traffic got too dense and speed limits were introduced! 

He however kept the cars he loved the most: highlights include a 1934 Mercedes-Benz 500K Coupé with coachwork by Vanvooren, a 1938 Delage D8-120 Cabriolet with coachwork by Henri Chapron and a unique 1939 Voisin C30 “Aerodyne.”

Maximilien Gagnebin, Senior Specialist at Bonhams|Cars, commented: “This garage-find Collection is maybe one of the last of its kind with examples showcasing the heyday of car manufacturing. Those Sleeping Beauties have never been offered publicly before, most of them having been purchased by Mr Strinati in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Their condition is a testament to their long-term owner. They should be carefully preserved through careful restoration to maintain their originality but most importantly they deserve to be driven as intended and shown to the public! ”

Representing the ultimate expression of the eight-cylinder Delage, the D8-120 Cabriolet was ordered in December 1938 by the Swiss Delage and Delahaye representative Albert Goy of Garage du Kursaal in Geneva for their customer, Mr. Gossweiler of Bern. Delahaye commissioned the cabriolet body from the celebrated Parisian coachbuilder Henri Chapron, who completed the work the following summer.

Pierre Strinati bought the Delage in the early 1960s from Carrosserie Graber, who fully repainted the car and retrimmed the hood in April 1961. The paintwork was changed to two-tone light over dark grey (probably during Mr Strinati’s ownership), which suits the D8 very well. The leather interior remains original, as does the rest of the car.

A fantastic insight into futuristic design of the late 1930s, this unique 1939 Voisin C30 is one of only five known survivors of some 20 examples built. Although to this day, the author of this bodywork remains to this day a mystery. The car was first registered in the French Alpes Maritimes before returning to Paris. Mr Strinati acquired it in 1963 and imported it into Switzerland. He treated the car to some light restorative work in the 1980s painting it in BMW’s Savanna Beige from, what we believe, its original green. The interior remains largely original and very bright with its clear plexiglass apertures in the roof.

Throughout its lifespan, the 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Trans Am boasts a provenance of exceptional ownership, including American racing legends Smokey Yunick and Don Yenko and has been driven by some of the greatest names in motorsport, such as Mark Donohue, Bruce McLaren, Lloyd Ruby, and Al and Bobby Unser. 

Other highlights in the collection include The Ex Shelly Wahsburn, Bob Bondurant 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray “Z06.” This historically significant Corvette was Vic Edelbrock Jr.’s very first race car. Also set to appear at the upcoming Quail Auction is a 1932 Ford Original Roadster Duplicate by Roy Brizio. This striking example was built by Vic Edelbrock Jr. in collaboration with renowned hot rod builder Roy Brizio, conceived as a faithful tribute to Vic Edelbrock Sr’s original roadster that played a pivotal role in American hot rod history.

Paris, France – Bonhams|Cars returned to the historic Grand Palais during Paris’ annual Rétromobile, delivering an auction that captivated a global audience. After 17 years of hosting sales during Rétromobile, Bonhams|Cars re-established its presence at the newly renovated Grand Palais following a three-year hiatus. Over three days, the event welcomed 10,000 visitors under the iconic glass nave, presenting a dazzling lineup of 98 collector cars, as well as automobilia and motorcycles.

Buyers from 18 countries participated in the sale, with the majority hailing from Europe, the United States, and Asia. The 162-lot sale achieved a total of €18 million and cars recorded an impressive 91% sell-through rate, underscoring its global appeal and the enduring passion for classic and collector cars.

Two rare and historically significant Ferraris were among the highlights of the sale, offered with no reserve. These vehicles, which played pivotal roles in Ferrari’s legacy of performance and elegance, captivated the audience with the 1950 Ferrari 166 MM Barchetta Touring, selling for €2.8 million and the 1955 Ferrari 555 Super Squalo, selling for €1.98 million.

Two pre-war Bugatti models showcased the timeless craftsmanship and engineering brilliance of the marque. The 1925 Bugatti Type 35 Grand Prix Two-Seater, sold for €759,000, and the 1936 Bugatti Type 57 Cabriolet, sold for €391,000.

A standout section of the sale featured a collection of Horch classics, which far exceeded their estimates. The enduring appeal of these historic models were evidenced by the following strong results:

• 1938 Horch 830 BL, sold for 12x its estimate at $241,600.
• 1936 Horch 851 Limousine, sold for 7x its estimate at $345,000.
• 1939 Horch 853A Sport Cabriolet, sold for 5x its estimate at $414,000

Leading the Bugatti lineup is the 1928 T43 Grand Sport, offered from long term private ownership of 20 years. This sought-after collector’s piece is a road-going version of Bugatti’s most triumphant Grand Prix racing car, the Type 35. Chassis no. 43219 participated in the 1991 Bugatti Festival in Molsheim and the Mille Miglia rerun. This well-documented vehicle comes with a comprehensive account of the original components, meticulously detailing its authenticity and pedigree.

Next in line is the iconic 1936 Type 57 cabriolet, a masterpiece crafted by Jean Bugatti, son of the founder Ettore Bugatti. With only 680 units ever produced, this model is highly coveted for its artistic design and impressive performance, as highlighted by its two victories at Le Mans. Chassis #57379, initially delivered to England, has now been under the stewardship of its current owner since 1987. This car boasts matching numbers for the engine and chassis, and a well-documented history.

The 1924 Type 23 ‘Brescia’ Open Tourer, a significant contributor to Bugatti’s motorsport reputation, represents a classic example of early 20th-century automotive engineering. This vehicle, chassis #2064, was first received by Arnold H Wootton, an influential figure in Australia’s motorsport scene. Over the years the car participated in numerous competitions under various owners. Exquisitely restored in Victoria in the 1970s, the car was owned and regularly used by noted marque authority Peter McGann between 1985 and 2019. 

Other highlights of Les Grandes Marques du Monde à Paris include the 1978 Schnitzer BMW E21 1.4-litre Turbocharged Group 5 Turbo. This outstanding BMW turbo competition car is the second E21 ‘R-car’ used by the Schnitzer tuning company team. The car had an exceptional racing career from 1978 to 1988, with its peak in 1978 when team driver Harald Ertl won the Deutsche Rennsport-Meisterschaft, marking it as the first and only BMW to hold that title. The car, known as ‘E21-R1-26’, went through several hands, won various races, and has been meticulously restored to its 1978 specifications, now considered one of only two 1.4-litre turbocharged examples of the 32 BMW E21s originally built by BMW Motorsport to Group 5 regulations.

Another rare offering is the 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG 6.2-Litre V8 P900 Prototype, just one of only two test prototypes ever built. In the early 2000s, AMG, Mercedes-Benz’s high-performance division, launched the exclusive CLK DTM AMG after dominating the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) in 2002 and 2003. This limited-edition model was produced in 100 units, along with an additional 80 convertible models, and was based on the race-winning AMG cars. Among these, the exceedingly rare CLK DTM AMG P900 stands out, with only two examples surviving today; these were prototypes equipped with a new engine, the naturally aspirated V8 M156, and were used for testing and client demonstrations, making them unique pieces of AMG’s technological prowess and racing heritage.

The top lot of the sale was the 1904 Darracq 12hp Twin-Cylinder Four-Seat Side-Entrance Tonneau, which sold for £189,750 ($245,000). This marvel from the early days of motoring has a prestigious ownership history, formerly part of the famous Sword Collection in the 1960s, and now finds a new owner for the first time in nearly 20 years.

Driving plenty of demand was the 1912 Sunbeam 16/20hp 4-Litre Tourer, which sold for £109,250 ($141,108). Crafted to the highest standards of its era, this car has had just three owners since new, each of whom has taken meticulous care of the vehicle. It is now presented in pristine condition, showcasing a beautifully finished mint-green exterior.

Another historic vehicle was the 1900 Clément-Panhard 4/4½hp Dos-à-Dos Light Dog Cart, which sold for £75,900 ($98,033). This vehicle’s fascinating history includes several London-Brighton Runs and a notable exhibition in 1931, where it towed the Blackburn Bluebird Aeroplane ‘G-ABDS’ around the streets of Glasgow to commemorate the solo trip around the world by the Hon. Mrs. Victor Bruce.

London, UK – Bonhams|Cars will offer a unique piece of rock and roll history – the 1977 Cadillac Seville personally owned and driven by Elvis Presley. With custom bodywork by Fisher and powered by a robust 5.7-liter V8 engine, this Cadillac was not just another car for “The King” – it is believed to be the last vehicle he purchased before his untimely death. Elvis selected the distinctive color scheme himself and fitted it with a CB radio to communicate with the Graceland guard house and kitchen. Verified by Graceland Authenticated LLC, the original title bears Elvis’ name, and photographs show him behind the wheel, embodying the iconic legacy of his life and style.

Elvis Presley’s 1977 Cadillac Seville by Fisher will be offered on Bonhams|Cars Online via a sealed bid from 4 – 25 November. The car is expected to exceed its previous recorded sale price of $100,000 from 30 years ago.

A highlight of the auction was the return of the 1956 Porsche 550RS from ‘EQUIPE NATIONALE BELGE’ to its homeland. This iconic race car was unveiled to the Belgian crowd for the first time, sparking significant interest, and eventually selling to a well-known private Belgian collector for €2,530,000 ($2,755,000).

Representing contemporary collectibles, a show-stopping monochromatic 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss was presented in a striking red-on-red example. The very last of the ultra-exclusive Stirling Moss series, this car exceeded expectations selling for €3,220,000($3,506,000).

The Zoute Sale, which presented 68 collector cars in addition to automobilia, achieved €21.3 million($23.1 million) with a 95% sell through rate.

The event marked the 12th edition of Bonhams|Cars’ partnership with the Zoute Grand Prix, attracting hundreds of thousands of car enthusiasts from Northern Europe and beyond. The 12,500 visitors who purchased a ticket for the Zoute Grand Prix Gallery by EY were treated to a unique selection of exclusive historic and modern cars in the 11,000 m² beach pavilion.

Leading the hypercar offerings is the 2021 Aston Martin V12 Speedster. This extraordinary hypercar is a standout member of the Aston Martin Vantage family, with only 88 examples ever produced and a mere 12 believed to exist in right-hand drive. This ultra-rare beauty, finished in a striking 1950s Racing Green livery, is a highly desirable limited-edition Aston Martin with just circa 325 miles from new.

An important marvel in motorsport history is the 1985 Audi Sport Quattro Coupé, which stands as a testament to engineering innovation and rallying prowess. Having achieved significant successes with the original Quattro, Audi developed a more specialized rally car in the form of the Sport Quattro ‘homologation special’. Featuring a turbocharged engine, the Sport Quattro possessed supercar performance. This vehicle has had only two owners and has been cherished by the vendor since 1994.

Next in line is the iconic 1998 Porsche 911 Type 993 Turbo Coupé. Dubbed “The Last Waltz,” this extraordinary machine marks the end of an era as the final air-cooled 911 to leave the Zuffenhausen factory, representing the pinnacle of Porsche’s engineering development. Crafted to the unique specifications of German author Clauss Vanderborg by Porsche’s Sonderwunsch (Special Wishes) department, it boasts an elegant Ocean Blue exterior paired with a bespoke Night Blue leather interior adorned with personalized details. • 1968-69 Ford Escort 1.6 FVA Group 5 Racing Saloon – Freshly restored to its original racing saloon specification, this Alan Mann team car has a fabulous history, having been raced by legends including Graham Hill, Jackie Oliver, Peter Arundell, and later Yvette Fontaine.

Knokke-Heist, Le Zoute – On October 6, the Bonhams|Cars Zoute Sale is set to present a remarkable piece of automotive history: the ex-‘ECURIE NATIONALE BELGE’ 1956 Porsche 550RS Spyder Chassis 550-0082. 

Chassis no. 550-0082, the 9th car of its model, was completed in March 1956. Ordered by Porsche’s Belgian distributor, D’Ieteren Freres in Liege, it was delivered in Belgium’s racing color of yellow to Ecurie Nationale Belge. This team was formed by the 1955 merger of Jacques Swaters’ Ecurie Francorchamps and Johnny Claes’ Ecurie Belge.

The car was subsequently raced extensively by many noted Belgian amateurs, including Claude Dubois, Christian Goethals, Georges Harris, Freddy Rousselle, Georges Hacquin, Alain Dechangy, Yves Tassin, and the celebrated lady competitor Gilberte Thirion. With six events on its calendar for the 1956 season, it achieved a number of podium finishes, including 3rd at the 12 Hours of Reims. Its crowning achievement that season was a class victory at the 1000 km of Paris at Montlhéry, finishing 20 seconds behind Phil Hill and Alfonso de Portago in a Ferrari 857 S. After multiple races and podium finishes including the Nürburgring and Spa, the car’s most significant event was the 1957 24 Hours of Le Mans, making it just one of ten 550 Spyders to contest the fabled race. The car, eligible for Le Mans Classic and the Mille Miglia, is offered in fully restored condition and comes with an extensive history file with period documentation.
