Philadelphia, PA – Beginning Wednesday, June 2nd, and in compliance with local and state public health authorities, the museum will be eliminating all of the imposed Covid-related restrictions, including density limits, maximum capacity limits, social distancing rules, and pre-registration. The use of masks and/or face coverings will still be required when visiting inside the museum, but they are anticipating the removal of that final mandate to occur on or around June 12, which the city has already announced as their anticipated end date.

Frank, was the Communication Director for the Early Ford V-8 Foundation and its Museum in Auburn, Indiana. He was the one responsible for the Foundation Newsletter and so much more. Frank also was the editor for the Ford Legend (the newsletter of the Henry Ford Heritage Association), the newsletter of the National Ford Tool Collectors group, and a vital contributor to The V-8 Times; the award winning publication of the Early Ford V-8 Club of America as an Associate Editor. Frank was full of life, energy and passion for the old car hobby that we all love. He will be dearly missed and warmly remembered by many.”

The Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance has taken steps to counter the Covid-19 pandemic. Originally slated for a March date, the show has been pushed back further into the spring season for safety concerns.

The 26th Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance will now take place May 20-23, 2001.

The Amelia Concours d’Elegance released the following statement:

Jacksonville, FL – In light of the current developments both locally and around the globe, the 26th Annual Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance will move to May 20-23, 2001.

At the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic The Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance Foundation made a promise to put the safety of our spectators, volunteers, entrants, judges, vendors, sponsors, staff and board directors first. Every day since, our team has consulted experts, followed local and national developments and weighed our options. We worked tirelessly to create a plan that would allow us to move forward. We also set benchmarks that would require us to pause.

Moving the date allows more time for the vaccine to be distributed. Additionally, hosting the concours in May will likely increase attendance and the corporate partnerships that allow out 501(c)(3) charitable foundation to continue its mission of providing resources for those in need on Florida’s First Coast and beyond.

We know the date change will present challenges for some. But we believe the health and well-being of those involved outweighs the inconvenience. TROY, Mich. – The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) announced it will not hold its 2021 auto show as planned. Instead, show officials revealed a “bridge to the future” with an auto-centric event called Motor Bella.

The new event will bring next-generation mobility and exciting vehicle debuts to media, show-goers and the automotive enthusiasts’ world in a never before experienced way while also addressing continued COVID-19 concerns about indoor events.

Motor Bella will be held from Sept. 21-26, 2021, at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Mich. Centrally located in the metro Detroit area, M1 Concourse, often referred to as an “87- acre playground for auto enthusiasts,” enables exhibitors to showcase key vehicles and technologies in an outdoor setting.

Plans call for 1.6 million square feet of dynamic vehicle and technology display space including terrain ideal for showcasing off-roading capabilities. M1 Concourse also offers a 1.5-mile hot track on the grounds for technology and vehicle demonstrations.

“The pandemic has caused changes in our society and world in ways not previously imagined, and we all should be looking for new and highly creative ways of doing business,” said Executive Director Rod Alberts. “This new event captures that creative spirit. It will provide new mobility experiences and increasingly innovative approaches to tapping into the industry and its products.”

Alberts said attendees can expect a multi-sensory experience at the new event. “This all-outdoor venue, with adrenaline-pumping track activities and a full complement of OEM and technology exhibits, is going to offer the sights, sounds and even the smell of all that the new world of mobility has to offer.”

As auto shows around the world are being reimagined and will continue to do so in the wake of the pandemic, NAIAS had been reimagining its position for some time.

“While auto shows remain an important platform to promote new mobility innovations and to help people make major vehicle purchase decisions, the traditional auto show model is changing,” Alberts said. “We cannot ignore the major disruptions caused by the pandemic and the impact it has had on budgets. As such, we will be providing an amazing experience to the media, the auto industry and the public in a cost-effective way.”

Event Chairman Doug North noted that the M1 Concourse was envisioned as part of the 2021 Motor Bella activities, so it was “a natural progression” to build upon it in light of the growing demand for experiential mobility shows and an increased appetite for outdoor events as a result of the pandemic. Motor Bella was originally conceived as a celebration of Italian and British supercars and classic vehicles and was to have debuted at the June 2020 NAIAS.

“With our new program for 2021, we will take the Motor Bella concept to the next level with multiple brands and mobilities represented, from hometown to international nameplates, autonomous vehicles to high-performance supercars and everything in between,” North said. “It will be a mobility-filled event. One that will provide our show partners with a cost-efficient backdrop to share all of their brands, products and technologies in a fun and festival-like atmosphere that’s completely outdoors.”

Also as a bonus to guests the museum has extended the holiday cheer. Since the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, many people visit the Museum to see the museum’s outstanding holiday transformation. Since visits were not possible, they’ve decided to postpone the takedown of our Holiday decorations for one week allowing guests the opportunity to see all the hard work and creative energy their dedicated volunteers put into this annual project.

LAKELAND, FL – Winter AutoFest, is held annually at the SUN n’ FUN Expo Campus in Lakeland each February. The event, powered by Pennsylvania based automotive promoter Carlisle Events, has taken place in Lakeland since 2013 and has grown exponentially since its inception. The three-day offering includes a quintet of car show options, an automotive flea market and two-day classic and collector car auction. Following a best-ever 2020 offering the Carlisle Events team was eager to return to Lakeland, February 19-21, 2021 for Winter AutoFest, however; the Coronavirus had other plans.

As with many aspects of the past 8+ months, Carlisle Events and Winter AutoFest 2021 have fallen victim to Coronavirus. Because of ongoing COVID related concerns, the planned 2021 event has been canceled for 2021 ONLY! With the hope of a vaccine seemingly within reach, we have reason to be optimistic about the future. Covid-19, however, is not going quietly. Daily record numbers of confirmed cases are pressing health systems to their limits. Therefore the Governor of Pennsylvania announced a return to shutdowns to slow the spread of the virus.

Beginning on December 12th, new restrictions on specific businesses and public gatherings go into effect. Museums will close to the public through Monday, January 4th. We hope that this mandated closure will truly last just a few weeks.

As we face another challenge, we thank everyone in our Museum Family that has stood by us through this crisis. We overcame the Spring closure and numerous ongoing operational restrictions because of your unwavering support. Thanks to new and renewed memberships, contributions, and gift shop purchases, we have been able to stay on steady ground. We ask for your continued support as we face another closure.

Due to continuing uncertainty about when larger gatherings will be permitted in the Chicagoland area and other concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, Motor State Distributing has made the decision to cancel the 2021 Race and Performance Expo. The Expo was scheduled for Feb. 19-21, 2021.

This appears to be the first cancellation of a major 2021 event due to the novel virus. Motor State Distributing predicted that the Race and Performance Expo will resume in 2022 at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center, in Schaumburg, Ill., with the 2022 dates to be announced in the near future.

In past years, the Race and Performance Expo has featured more than 100,000 sq. ft. of automotive and truck products of interest to those involved with auto racing and high-performance cars.

Collector cars and trucks have played a big role in the trade show with cars such as a GTO hardtop restored by Camal Auto Rebuilders and a rare International pickup truck putting in appearances at past Expos.

Displays from hundreds of product sellers are set up at the show and company representatives are available to provide helpful information. The event also includes dozens of race and performance vehicles created by recognized builders, as well as industry personalities and special events.

Thousands of family members and relatives normally attend the Expo to watch student contestants compete in the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge. This features teams of young enthusiasts racing against each other to put an engine together. The Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge really increases the crowd count.

In the interest of keeping everyone safe and minimizing risk, we are forced to make the decision to postpone the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show to 2021. With the uncertainty and Governor Pritzkers current policy limiting indoor events to no more than 100 people, the next MCACN show will take place Saturday, November 20, and Sunday, November 21, 2021.

The safety of our participants, our fine sponsors, our staff and of course our families is the top priority. With a record setting year in 2019 and the largest crowd ever, we know this is the right thing to do to maintain the momentum we have worked so hard to obtain.

The MCACN team has already shifted into high gear with preparations for the 2021 show. Several new Special Displays will join the previously announced displays, which will carry over. This is sure to make our 2021 event the biggest, best and most diversified show to date when we return to the beautiful Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois.
