HEBRON, Neb. – Ask Darlene Lambert how long she was married to her late husband Roger and she’ll give a wink and say, “sixty years, eight days, six hours and five minutes.” The only things they loved as much as each other were family, the family business – Lambriar Kennels and Lambert Vet Supply – and their outstanding lifetime collection of beautiful, rare classic cars.

Now, the Roger and Darlene Lambert Classic Car Collection – 39 automobiles, nearly all of them lovingly restored to their original glory – will come up for bid on Saturday, August 9th, starting at 10am Central Time, online and live at the Stastny Community Center, located at 1350 Dove Road in Hebron. A preview will be held at the venue on Friday, August 9th, from 10-5pm.

“Roger and Darlene’s story is a love for each other and family, and to them, the cars were part of the family,” said Yvette VanDerBrink, whose Minnesota-based firm VanDerBrink Auctions is conducting the sale. “We encourage everyone to come to the auction in Nebraska or bid online. The Lamberts, like their dogs, want their cars to go to good homes. We hope to see you there.”

Darlene and Roger’s life began as neighbors. Darelene knew Roger as the young man next door with a DeSoto car he had restored. She was smitten, but their budding relationship was interrupted by the Korean War, as Roger went off to fight but the two kept in touch by writing each other letters. Roger came home with Darlene waiting, and the two got married in 1964.

At first Roger worked for Boeing in Wichita, then they moved back to Mahaska, Kansas, where together they started Lambriar Kennels and Lambert Vet Supply, brokering puppies of various breeds all over the world and building a reputation for excellent service and wonderful dogs. They helped set standards for kennels and various inspection programs and were widely respected in the industry.

With the success of the business, they were able to travel the world and that DeSoto started what was to become a top-shelf classic car collection. They went to auctions all over the U.S. and bought what they liked.

They say every dog has its day, and when Darlene and Roger saw a car they liked, it was its day and they bought it. It was hard to go to an auction and turn down a car that was begging to come home with them. They simply refused to be outbid. They bought Cadillacs, Imperials, Chevys, Fords and more. There wasn’t a car they didn’t like.

Eventually, Roger began to have health issues. Darlene knew something wasn’t right. They still attended auctions, but now, because family was so important to them, they brought along each of their children and grandchildren and together they picked out a car. Sadly, Roger passed away from leukemia, and Darlene made the heart-heavy decision to part with the car collection so others could enjoy what she and Roger loved and spent so many years building.Online bidding is available through www.VanDerBrinkAuctions.com.

Montana is known as the treasure state. Precious gems, gold, acres of rich farm land, and beautiful views. For those early pioneers and residents, it’s not an easy life, but there is fortune to be had and a good life for those willing to make it through the tough years. It is not for the faint of heart. Alverta and George Dielman ventured to Montana to start their life in the shadow of the Bear Paw Mountains. Alverta purchased their 160 acres in 1935 that would become the homestead and where they would raise their family. The couple had only one child, Lewis Dielman. Farming is a hard life. They raised wheat, barley, oats, and even chickens and had a big garden and beautiful yard. In about the 1950’s there would be another crop, a crop of old iron that would be an addition to the farm and a sideline for some extra money.

Lewis Dielman loved automobiles, and well, the car collection. It all started with a bet. Lewis wanted a car. His dad, George, said, “I bet you cannot buy those cars they saw for $50.00 each. You get them for less, then make a deal. Bet you can’t.” Well, the challenge was on. Lewis took the bet and bought the cars for $35.00 each. This started the Dielman Collection. Lewis liked Dodge pickups, Buicks, Lincolns, and even had a 1940 Chevrolet coupe as a first car. That very car is still in the collection. The father and son duo went to auctions, and traveled around the area buying vehicles, trucks, and more. Soon, car dealers would call them to buy the vehicles that they would take in on trade. The Dielman Collection grew.

Lewis Dielman married and started his family. Lewis’s sons and daughter were also interested in cars and the collecting adventures. They eventually had so many cars that they would sell parts to area residents to fix their cars. Three generations of the Dielman family were all together buying cars, trucks, and pickups, and bringing them to the homestead and stashing them away. They would come across some unusual vehicles like Pierce Arrows, Lincolns, and other rare classics. The family treasured those classics and would take them to shows and parades in Big Sandy, MT area and even into Canada. Lewis Dielman was well known for his collection nationally and locally and a member of several car clubs. The Dielman family is a close family, and they all worked on the farm and enjoyed the collection.

Grandpa George Dielman passed away, but Lewis, Mark, Linn, and Alvie were fixtures at auctions and kept buying old cars, trucks, and pickups. Area people would say Mark was a dead ringer for his Grandpa. In the early 1980’s Lewis Dielman had multiple auctions of about 600 vehicles including some of his rare classics. But he was not done with collecting. Lewis was still buying up until the week he passed. Lewis had bought a 1975 Volkswagen Beetle that week. Lewis Dielman still wanted to be by his collection and is buried in the pasture overlooking the homestead.

Now with the passing of their father, Linn, Mark, and Alvie Dielman have started the task of selling the massive collection. Three generations of classics packed away in the buildings at two farms and four buildings in town. Dust covers the classics, but now they are all being pulled out to be sold to let other collectors enjoy them. The process started last year and just recently finishing up. There are approx. 500 pieces including antique tractors bought new and used on the farm to rare prewar projects. There is everything from Titan Tractors to Lincolns, Maxwells, REOs, Pickups, trucks, and range from the Teens to the 1970’s. It is truly amazing.

Every car guy dreams about pulling into an old farm place and opening the doors to the barn and finding that hidden muscle car. For Bill Slavens, that was his dream, finding old cars and bringing them back home. Back in the 1950’s and 60’s, having a car in high school meant that you were one of the guys. Bill Slaven and Bob Kuykendall met in High School and instantly were friends. They both had cool cars and that one common factor, looking for cars, fixing cars, racing, and cruising.

For over 60 years, their friendship took them all over the United States hunting classic Corvette cars and parts. Bill and Bob would often jump in the truck and chase down a lead. This was before internet, and it meant listening to stories, newspapers, Hemmings, and talking to neighbors. Bill and Bob put the miles on going to swap meets, car shows, following leads, and auctions. Both car guys would bring home their finds to their places. Bill Slaven though, would buy to sell and Bob would buy to sell. Little did Bob know that his car friend, had accumulated such a hoard of Corvettes, parts, and more.

Bill would bring them home and drive them for a while and then bring them to storage units, his building, and area farms for storage. The 2 car guys kept going on adventures until health issues started to plague Bill and he was not able to go on as many car hunts with Bob. Bill had a heart attack and then cancer. Bob kept him busy talking about cars and reminiscing.

Bob got that phone call and knew something was wrong. Bob went to his house and Bill had passed away from a heart attack. Bob planned a fitting farewell for his friend and had a Corvette cruise and took his ashes to the cemetery for one last car adventure. Bob now took on the task of going back through history and the years of friendship, by cleaning and sorting through Bill’s collection. Bob knew what they had bought, but did not realize that it had never left Bill’s stash or was sold. Bob found his friend’s secret, over 50 years of Corvettes, parts, and other items squirreled away.

After Months of cleaning and locating, Bob will now offer his friends collection at auction on October 5th, 2024 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Jefferson, Wisconsin. The collection has many rare cars, parts including a 1953 Chevrolet Corvette that is #108 built. With only 300 of these first for the Corvette, few are left and fewer yet as a rare project. There is a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split Window AC coupe that is 1 of less than 85 AC coupes. There is a 1964 Chevrolet Fuel Injected Corvette that is numbers matching and amazing project. There are 21 or more Corvettes, multiple hard to find fuel injection units, 4-speeds, and more parts.

This is an amazing story of friendship and Classic Car barn find story. The auction will be Live Onsite with also Online bidding. Being a Chevrolet gal, Yvette VanDerBrink of VanDerBrink Auctions had fun working with Bob uncovering several of the Corvettes from their resting places.

“It was sad to hear of Bill’s passing.,” Yvette VanDerBrink said. “I have seen Bill and Bob coming to my auctions for 23 years. They are and Bill was a true car guy. I am honored to work with this collection.“

Check out the amazing video of Bob’s journey with the collection and finding and uncovering all these classics. So, Plan now to attend this auction and the Bill Slavens Corvette hoard.
RATHDRUM, Idaho – An incredible hoard of big block Chevrolet cars and parts – mostly muscle car-era Chevelles, Camaros, Corvettes and El Caminos from the collection of Roy Langlitz (aka “Rob Carter”) – will come up for bid Saturday and Sunday, September 16th and 17th, on-site, at Mr. Langlitz’s sprawling property in Rathdrum, just outside of Spokane, Wash.

“Anyone who knows me knows I love Chevelles, and this auction’s got plenty of them,” said Yvette VanDerBrink, whose Minnesota-based firm VanDerBrink Auctions is conducting the two-day event. “Between 125 and 150 Chevrolets will cross the auction block on Day 1, a great blend of project cars, almost finished project cars, restored cars and pickups, none of which run.”

Ms. VanDerBrink said some of the Corvettes in the sale are judged and rated (“absolutely exceptional examples”), adding, “With regard to parts, everything you’d need or want to build a Chevelle or Camaro or El Camino is here. As for engines, we’ve got Ls5s, Ls6s, 396s, 409s, 454s, 348s and more – mostly 396s, 454s and 409s. In all, there are about 125 big block motors.”

The inventory of complete cars includes 1970 Camaros, 1970 Chevelles (one of them a 454 c.i. convertible that was featured in Car Craft magazine), a 427 c.i. Corvette Sting Ray survivor car (never been repainted), and even a few non-Chevys, such as the Pontiac GTO and the 1970 Ford Mach I 428 c.i. Cobra Jet (not a Shelby). The Mach I is the only car in the auction that does run.

Online bidding on Day 1 will be through Proxibid.com.

VanDerBrink said if the name Roy Langlitz (or Rob Carter) rings a bell, it might be because he was featured in a cover story from the July 2008 issue of Hot Rod magazine. In it, his collection was named as one of the “Greatest Hidden Treasures” of the automotive world. Now, those very treasures that were written about 15 years ago can be purchased by other big block Chevy lovers.

Roy Langlitz (1933-2023) was the second born of five children. Upon graduation from high school, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served aboard the USS John R. Pierce during the Korean War. After his discharge he took a job with Heller Helicopter in a career that lasted long enough to save the money needed to start the first of several business ventures, all in California.

These included gas stations, towing services, a motel and a sporting goods store. One of his last ventures was a construction firm. His partner in the business ultimately moved to Idaho, and he convinced Roy to do same as well. After building homes in northern Idaho for a few years, Roy partnered with a longtime friend, Gary Woodson, to start a highly successful truck stop business.

That success allowed him to buy some acreage and begin what turned into a decades-long grand adventure of finding, buying, fixing up and (on rare occasion) selling classic American cars. He loved attending and hosting car shows and sharing his passion for all things Chevrolet. It was a hobby that allowed Roy to stay constantly busy and gave him the freedom to choose how and where to spend his time. It also led to the amazing auction planned for September 16th and 17th.

Dennis Collins is known for his YouTube show “Coffee Walk,” in which he takes viewers along for the ride in his car-hunting adventures. Approximately 200 of Collins’ trophies from his adventures will be offered as project and parts cars during the auction.

The collection includes many MoPar B-bodies, such as a 1969 Plymouth Belevedere, 1969 and ’70 Dodge Coronet R/T hardtops, a 1973 Dodge Charger SE, a 1968 Dodge Charger and more.

Collins’ stash of hot rod projects includes and a 1969 Ford Torino Cobra with a 429.

Restoration and hot rod projects take the form of numerous 1935-1940 Chevrolet coupes, two- and four-door sedans and a few 1936-1948 Ford and Mercury V-8s.

In addition to more than a dozen Mustangs, there are two dozen 1960s-1980s Camaros, five Firebirds from the same eras, multiple Pontiac GTO models, many C3 Corvettes, dozens of pickup trucks, many “Late Great” Chevys (particularly 1964 Impalas) and even a 1970 Ford Torino Cobra with a 429 and a Marti Report.

There’s even a selection of finned Cadillacs, proving this sale has something for nearly everyone.

Online bidding is currently live, and in-person bidding begins in Nevada, Texas, at 9:30 a.m. Central Time on April 29.
For many people, cars are just a mode of transportation. But for others, they are more like a member of the family. Cars are a right of passage when you’re old enough to drive. You remember the car that you got married in, or even that car your brother had or the one the cool guy in high school had? This auction has two stories of how cars played a part in the lives of our sellers and the special meanings those cars hold to them.

For Harley Moser, he remembered looking through his brother’s Hot Rod magazines and seeing all the cool cars and hoping maybe someday he would have a car like the ones on the pages. Harley grew up on a ranch by Selby, South Dakota and raised more horses than horsepower, but when he had the chance to test out real horsepower, he had a 1966 Ford Mustang 2+2 and boy it was fast. Well, a little too fast. He wound up wrecking it. Luckily, the only thing that was hurt was his pride.

Harley grew up saying his favorite things were fast horses, fast cars, good cattle, and beautiful women. It was after a rodeo that he met his beautiful “brown-eyed gal,”Barb. They fell in love, got married and were excited to start a family. Their first born was a boy, Justin. Growing up on a ranch, you notice when an animal is sick. It was this instinct that saved their little man’s life. Harley noticed that something wasn’t right with their baby. They rushed him to Bismarck and with a good doctor and medication, their baby survived. Justin was diagnosed with a congenital adrenal disease. Soon another baby, and yet another diagnosis. His sister, their second child, Molly, also had the disease. It was a challenge, but with medication, the kids grew up and enjoyed ranch life in South Dakota.

Life was good on the ranch and Harley finally had the chance to fulfill his childhood dream, buying those muscle cars he read about in Hot Rod Magazine. Harley started buying MoPar collector cars as a future savings account for Barb and him. But it wasn’t long, and another crisis arose for the Moser Family, Barb was diagnosed with cancer. Chemo, radiation, and doctor’s appointments ensued. Barb fought hard, but ultimately lost the battle with cancer. Harley lost his brown-eyed gal.

Friends have rallied around the Moser Family. The Moser family was tight with the Haux family and Shari was raised by Barb’s family and accounts them for saving her life. Shari’s husband, Fred Haux, passed away and Shari knew it was time to pay back the family that helped her. Shari donated Fred’s 1969 Ford Fairlane with Cobra Jet motor to the Moser family to be sold at the auction June 3rd to help the Moser Children.

Harley’s savings account of MoPars includes a barn-fresh 1970 Charger RT, a beautiful 1970 Plymouth GTX, 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner, 1973 Dodge Dart Sport with 340 4-speed, and more items. They all will be sold at auction on Friday June 3rd, 2022 as part of the Droog-Moser Auction at the Kerry Droog farm outside Mobridge. It’s amazing how his love of old cars and their sale will help to save and raise money to help his children.

A little backstory on Kerry Droog

Kerry Droog grew up on the Missouri River by Mobridge, South Dakota. Kerry says that this was the best life. Fishing, riding motorcycle, and playing with the neighbor kids. Being the son of an auctioneer, Droog Auctioneering, Kerry remembers as soon as he was old enough, he was holding up plates and working the auctions with his family. He enjoyed looking at all the old stuff they sold at the auctions and started collecting at a young age. When he was old enough, going to auction school was a right of passage. Kerry and his brother went off to Mason City, IA to auction school. They got back home and Kerry helped for over 20 years. Kerry would often bring home more than he made that day. His dad would always say, “What you want with all that old stuff?” But Kerry would load it up and store it away. Now being West River South Dakota, Kerry didn’t want a car, but a pickup when he could drive. He bought a 1951 Willys CJ2A Jeep and hit the Prairie. Pickups and cars have always been a part of his life. He met his wife, Barb, while hanging out on the tailgate of a truck. This good-Looking gal came up and said, “I like you and your truck.” That was it, they dated and were married.

Kerry’s brother was in the military, Kerry started collecting military and civilian Dodge Power Wagons as well. When Kerry was younger, he started working at UPS and still does today and has done every job from sweeping floors to wearing a suit. They say a rolling stone gathers no moss, that is so true for Kerry. Always working and going. Kerry bought a salvage yard, K and K Auto in 1999 in Mobridge, South Dakota and was able to play with all the cars and trucks he wanted. Kerry had a chance and sold the salvage yard about 4 years ago, but had collected a nice collection of Jeeps, Power Wagons, and square-body pickups, and more.

Soon Kerry realized that he wasn’t getting any younger and didn’t want to leave his many collections for his wife and kids to contend with. Kerry wanted more time to ride motorcycle with spend time with his bride. So, Kerry has decided to sell his collection of many years of gas and oil collectibles along with over 60 antique vehicles, antique tractors, and more. The collection has day 1 Friday June 3rd, 2022 selling the collector trucks and pickups, Power Wagons, tractors, and parts. Saturday, June 4th, will kick off selling hundreds of signs, along with gas pumps, and much more. Kerry wants everyone to enjoy the years of collecting and treasures he’s found.

Both the Moser and Droog Collections have something for everyone and with a good cause to boot. The collections have wonderful vehicles that will sell on Day 1, Friday, June 3rd, 2022. The Moser collection will help his children and check out the lifelong collection that Kerry acquired through years of collection. Come back for day 2 on Saturday, June 4th, 2022 for the Droog Sign, Gas Pumps, and more collection. The auction will be held onsite with online bidding. But you’ll want to come and spend a couple days out in South Dakota and maybe even take in a day of walleye fishing on the Missouri River.
Del Beyer grew up on a farm in Wisconsin and dreamed of the day when he could build a life of his own. Del’s dad died when he was young so he had to step up and help out his mom. He always had an eye for fabulous cars and tractors; he enjoyed the mechanics and design of them. Del went into the Army and later married. Eventually he started his family and also started a construction company. Soon success and children came his way and the growing business allowed him to enjoy his life long dream of owning some of those fabulous cars that he saw as a kid.

Mr. Beyer idolized Henry Leland for his work ethic and the creation of the Cadillac brand. He lived by his motto, “ Best way we can.” Del could be heard telling his kids, “Do it right, or don’t do it at all.” This proved him well in the business world.

<button

Del made a habit of buying out parts from dealerships and auto shops that were closing. This would give him a supply of parts for his projects. Lincolns were a favorite of Mr. Beyer and especially the V12s. Mrs. Beyer tolerated the hobby and eventually the kids got involved too. They enjoyed helping and learning from their dad. Many of the cars that Del bought came from local estates of friends within 100 miles of his home. Del’s family farm life was evident by the antique tractors that are part of the collection. His family still owns the farm. The collection has earlier John Deere, Case, along with some construction equipment.

For many guys, who just want one classic car in their garage to work with, one is enough. Then there is Ron Hackenberger, cars to him were like being a kid in a candy store and he just couldn’t settle for one. For Ron, it all started with a 1948 Studebaker. When he was 15 years old and bought his first car, a Studebaker that to him was a beautiful automotive masterpiece. Ron borrowed the money from his grandpa and bought the 1948 Studebaker that fueled his sweet tooth for collector cars and thus began his immense collection. That Studebaker opened the door to trading up through the years, such as a 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk.

In 1962, Ron married Eunice and they started their life together, as well as their love of collecting cars. The family grew quickly to include six daughters. Ron was a truck driver by trade and eventually started his own trucking company, building it up to 100 trucks and trailers. While Ron was on his hauling adventures, he would spot cars and add them to his collection. Quite often he would leave with a car hauler and travel to the west coast and return home with a load of cars.

As the miles accumulated and time passed he eventually sold the trucking company to start another adventure. Ron, Eunice and the girls, moved to Texas and bought a ranch and raised cattle. His profession may have changed but his car collecting remained.

It wasn’t long before he was ready to move on once again. He sold the ranch, lock, stock and cattle and moved back to Norwalk, Ohio. He bought some properties, and like everyone in 2008, took a hit on his investments due to the recession. Ron worked with the banks and kept his extensive car collection together.

Ron started yet another adventure, this time a campground and a catering service that their daughter continues to run with them.

With the success of his real estate and businesses, he was able to buy cars as he would come across them. Ron would buy cars that were unique, unusual, rare, and “something that you won’t see every day.” His collection has now grown to Approx. 700 vehicles. The Studebakers are still in the collection – almost 250 of them! Trucks, pickups, Champions, Commanders, Avanti’s, and even a Darrin roadster project are part of his vast collection. The collection also hosts eight & six door Checker limos, Divco milk trucks, Ramblers, AMC, many Chrysler and Packard cars, and so many more.

Ron’s collection also includes his love of all things unusual with micro cars from BMW Izetta’s, Citroens, Crossley’s, King Midgets, a rare Tatra, Borward and Fiats. There are early Hondas, Jaguars, Porsches and so much more. There is even a space-age looking car that looks like Evil Knievel would take it over the Snake River Canyon, and knowing Ron, maybe it has!

There are many cars and trucks that will be sought after by Rat Rodders and customizers. There is an assortment of Henry J’s, Desotos, Plymouths, and even COE Trucks. For the muscle guys and gals in the crowd, Ron boasts of a ’65 Mustang, a ’66 Dodge Charger, a ’67 Plymouth Barracuda and a ’57 Chevy thrown in for good measure.

The collection isn’t limited to cars and trucks. There are John Deere and International tractors and a host of rare Studebaker buggies and wooden wagons. Ron liked everything with wheels and even has a 1947 Indian Chief “Roadmaster” motorcycle complete with sidecar and a 1949 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Keeping true to the roots that helped build his great collection, he even has a ’75 Dodge Big Horn diesel rig for sale!

Ron was going to restore many of them and then realized he didn’t have enough time to get them all done. At one time there was talk of a possible museum for the cars but it never panned out. He decided to turn them back into the wild and let other collectors, rodders, customizers, and hobbyists enjoy his vast collection.

The Hackenbergers are going to have one big weekend with a celebration of his collection and everything will be sold no-reserve over the weekend of July 14-16. The auction is open to anyone that loves old cars and trucks and wants to give the Hackenbergers’ treasures a good home. There is defiantly something for everyone.

Ron and Eunice have contracted with JF Marketing/Auction & Real Estate Services in Ohio and VanDerBrink Auctions, LLC, of Minnesota, who specializes in collector cars and parts, to sell their vast collection. When John called me to come out to Ohio, we walked into just the first of the three major buildings housing the best of the collection, and could hardly walk through the cars. They are packed door to door and end to end. The cars are originals, restored, projects, and some for parts. A catalog will be coming with complete details, pictures and more. The Hackenbergers have been working to title the vehicles and get ready for the sale. You won’t want to miss this auction.

The auction will be held onsite and online and bidders across the world will have a chance to bid on and buy a part of this “virtual car candy store.“It is amazing, I’ve never seen so many different cars,” said, John Froelich of JF Marketing/Auction & Real Estate Services.

I wonder what Henry Ford would say today if he saw what has happened since his Model T Ford. This icon of automotive history not only changed the world, but started the revolution to go faster – the art, the scene of hot rodding.

Bob Koepke hailed from Gary, Ind., growing up on the family farm. The wheels were always turning in his mind and he couldn’t wait to get his hands on the wheel. Bob’s first car was a Model A Ford he bought from his brother for $25. Bob was always inventing ways to go faster and he turned that Model A into his first hot rod, tearing up the streets of Gary.

Bob’s grandfather said, “His boys weren’t going to farm, but go to college.” That Model A Ford took him all through high school and into college at Indiana University, where he graduated with a degree in accounting. Bob and his new bride headed off to Titusville, Fla., leaving Indiana behind to start a new life as an accountant at Boeing-NASA. They arrived in Florida in the 1960’s, right in the middle of the space race and the bigger motor era of NASCAR. What an exciting place to be for a hot rodder… Daytona Beach, Kennedy Space Stations, and surrounded by Corvettes, and the booming hot rod scene.

Their family grew. Dave Koepke, Bob’s only child, was born. To Dave, his dad was a “Superman” in the hot rodding world. Just like Clark Kent, he would wear a suit to work and come home and transform into a hot rodder. Jeans, slick back the hair, throw on the shades, and hop into the Model A – or now a 1935 Ford roadster – and cruise the beaches, swap meets and garages. Adventures of the hot rodding kind.

Bob took Dave everywhere teaching him the art. They were always going on adventures looking for parts to make their cars go faster. Bob was friends with Smokey Yunick and other kings of speed. In Bob’s collection are pieces from Smokey’s garage with a signed aluminum intake – a treasured part of Bob’s collection. Bob retired early from NASA, which meant more time with his son and traveling the southeast United States to find more parts and cars.

His collection will be sold by VanDerBrink Auctions on April 11.

Bob loved the early Fords and Tri-Five cars. One of his next purchases was a 1957 Chevrolet Nomad wagon. Bob bought a lot of parts and cars from Classic Chevrolet, Ecklers, and private parties. There are seven 1955-’57 Nomads in his collection along with four 1957 Chevrolet convertibles, and other Tri-Fives. Many times Bob and Dave would go on trip in the 1957 and would come back with a ’57 or other car in tow.

Everybody liked Bob. He was a familiar face at area swap meets and hot rod shows. He was always tuning a motor or inventing ways to go fast. Bob and Dave brought home loads of early Ford and Tri-Five parts and packed them away in the house, barn and garage. Bob would always tell Dave, “The good stuff is outside. You’ll find it someday.” Bob not only loved the classic 1932 Ford coupes, but the 1934 and 1935 Ford cars. In the collection there are several 1932-’34 three-window coupes along with 1932 roadsters, 1934-’36 cabriolet roadsters, and many, many parts.

Bob diversified his tastes while working at NASA. There were always a sea of Corvettes with the execs and astronauts, so he wanted something different. Bob bought a 1973 Ford Pantera which still only has 3,800 miles. The car is British Racing Green and has the original Arriva Goodyear tires with stickers on the car. But just one unusual car wasn’t enough. Bob bought a rare 1958 Porsche 356 Coupe and a 1978 Ferrari 308 that he drove on his “suit” days. Bob also liked the ’50s Corvettes and there still is a 1958 FI Corvette roadster in pieces as unfinished projects. There are many project cars and started projects that will be sold along with many Corvette parts including LS and LT1 parts.

Bob and Dave’s tag team parts days ended when Dave headed back to Indiana in 1990 as a machinist, starting his own life. Bob would always lure Dave back down with a new treasure. Dave was married now with kids and doing his own hot rod thing in Indiana.

For the last 10 years no one, not even Dave, was allowed on the home place. They would meet for dinner or at the hotels and reminisce, then they would go their separate ways again. But then in November 2014 Dave couldn’t get ahold of his dad. Then he got that call – Bob had passed away. Dave then got on the first plane and headed to Florida to make the arrangements and head to his dad’s place.

Dave started up the driveway and could only get part way. The property was covered with tarps, hot rod parts, early Ford, Tri-Five, Corvette, and horse power parts everywhere. The bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, everywhere. With the help of shifts of car guys from Indiana and Florida, they started the task of going through his dad’s collection. Dave found in the back of the garage, apart, but was his dad’s Model A hot rod and 1935 Ford roadster from his younger days. He’s taking them back to Indiana to put together and tell his girls about their Grandpa.

Bob always said, “The good stuff is outside.” Sure enough, under the sea of tarps were 1932-’34 three-window coupes, 1932 roadsters, Nomad wagons, 57 convertibles and more. It was amazing. Being a hot rodder himself, Dave knew this was just too much and called VanDerBrink Auctions about an auction. Yvette came down and together they started putting the auction together tagging, lotting, and photographing the collection.

Here is a sneak peek at some of the collection…

In the Midwest, we typically don’t think of California dreaming, but Lowell Lundberg had an eye for the beach from North Dakota.

The classic style of the wooden side panels on those wonderful Woodies was a favorite of Mr. Lundberg. Mr. Lundberg’s career as a “car nut” began when he bought his first car in 1967. His profession of being an attorney allowed him to buy interesting and an assortment of cars, which will be sold by VanDerBrink Auctions in West Fargo, N.D., on June 14.

When you look at an overview of Lowell’s Collection, there is everything from a 1965 Chevrolet Impala convertible to a rare 1948 Packard 2200 Series Woodie Wagon, 1950 Chrysler Town & Country Newport Woodie two-door sedan, along with 1949 Chrysler New Yorker Town & Country Woodie two-door convertible.

<button

Lowell’s passion for his cars was a huge part of his life and some of his happiest times were spent with family at the car barns. Most of his cars had names. His hobby introduced him to life-long friends and wonderful times in his retirement.

Mr. Lundberg has passed away and, with the help of his buddies from the car club, his entire collector vehicle will be offered to the public at auction. The members of the car club habe spent hours helping VanDerBrink Auctions clean, move around, and get the vehicles running and ready for the auction. There is also an assortment of collector parts.

VanDerBrink Auctions will offer the collection at the Veterans Memorial Hall (indoors) in West Fargo on June 14, beginning at 10 a.m.

“It’s such a wonderful sight to find an assortment of rare vehicles and a great chance for collectors to add one of Lowell’s treasures to their collection,” said auctioneer Yvette VanDerBrink.

All vehicles and parts will be sold at NO RESERVE to the highest bidder. Bidding will also be available on-line along with the on-site auction. Pictures, video and inventory can be found on the website www.vanderbrinkauctions.com.
