CARLISLE, PA – Car season is approaching fast and Carlisle Events is ready to roar back to life as Spring Carlisle returns to the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds April 22–26, with its partner event, the Spring Carlisle Collector Car Auction, taking center stage April 23–24 at the neighboring Carlisle Expo Center. Together, the events offer enthusiasts the opportunity to buy, sell, and celebrate decades of automotive excellence — from pre-war classics to modern muscle and everything in between.

Powered by Carlisle Auctions FREE UNLESS SOLD guarantee, 400+ consignments are anticipated for the two-day auction, showcasing vehicles that span generations and price points. Whether you’re seeking a meticulously restored showpiece, a weekend cruiser, or your next investment focused collectible, the Spring auction provides an accessible and exciting option for all that and then some!

One returning highlight is the All-Truck Hour, scheduled for approximately 3:30 PM on Thursday, April 23. This specialty hour celebrates trucks, Jeeps, and SUVs of all eras and returns by popular demand to the auction schedule. From vintage pickups to lifted late-model haulers, the All-Truck Hour brings a focused energy to the block and offers buyers a dedicated window to secure their next four-wheeled workhorse or show-ready rig.

Beyond the vehicles themselves, the 2026 Spring Carlisle Collector Car Auction proudly shines a spotlight on charitable initiatives that reflect the heart of the automotive community.

SUN Technical Institute of New Berlin, Pennsylvania, returns to the auction in a unique and hands-on way. Students have custom-built wheelbarrow go-karts that will cross the block, with 100% of the sale benefiting their educational programs. In addition, SUN Tech students have prepared and refurbished a 1951 Dodge for auction. That Dodge, originally donated by the AACA Museum, Inc. – America’s Transportation Museum, will see 100% of its sale dollars benefit Carlisle Auctions’ Fund the Firehouse program and the New Berlin Fire Company.

Speaking of Fund the Firehouse, Carlisle Auctions announced that the Ickesburg Fire Company in neighboring Perry County has received the donation of a 2008 GMC Envoy. When it crosses the auction block in April, 100% of its sale proceeds will directly benefit them. These charity consignments represent more than just vehicles — they represent opportunity, education, and community support.

The Spring 2026 Collector Car Auction begins at 10 AM daily, with preview hours starting at 8 AM on April 22 and continuing through the conclusion of the event. Advanced and online bidding opens April 20, and every registered bidder is eligible to bring a guest to the auction and attend Spring Carlisle as well. Finally, there are THREE great ways to bid; in person, on the phone, or online.

Spectator admission is $13 at the door, discounted if purchased online. Consignments are being added daily, and complete details are available at CarlisleAuctions.com. For auction information or to consign, call 717-960-6400. Get involved today and don’t miss your chance to own your first — or next — classic with Carlisle Auctions this April.

CONCORD, NC — The golden age of motoring is rolling into the spotlight. The Heritage Invitational at Ten Tenths Motor Club will showcase four extraordinary pre-war automobiles that exemplify the ingenuity, craftsmanship and performance that defined the earliest era of automotive excellence in this year’s “Grand Classics” class on April 9-11, 2026. Among the more than 100 concours-caliber vehicles on display ranging from supercars to Japanese racing machines, a class of early 20th-century classics will pay tribute to the history of the automobile.

ON DISPLAY

1918 Locomobile Model 38 displayed by the Savoy Automobile Museum
The Locomobile Model 38 stands as one of America’s premier brass- and early-classic-era luxury automobiles. Built in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the Model 38 featured a large-displacement inline engine and was renowned for its precision manufacturing and high-quality coachwork. By 1918, Locomobile had established itself as a prestige marque, producing automobiles that rivaled Europe’s finest. The Model 38 reflects the industry’s early pursuit of engineering excellence and refined motoring comfort.

1928 Bentley 6 ½ -Litre displayed by Paul Gould
A symbol of British performance, the Bentley 6.5-Litre was developed under W.O. Bentley’s leadership and built to dominate endurance racing. Powered by a robust inline-six engine displacing 6.5 liters and featuring four valves per cylinder, the model earned fame at Le Mans in the late 1920s. Known for its advanced engineering and durability, the 6.5-Litre represents the height of interwar grand touring performance — where speed and stamina were engineered without compromise.

1934 LaSalle Convertible Coupe displayed by the Stahls Motor and Music Experience
Created by General Motors as a companion marque to Cadillac, LaSalle helped define American luxury in the Art Deco era. The 1934 Convertible Coupe featured streamlined styling and a smooth-running V-8 engine, reflecting Harley Earl’s early influence on automotive design at GM. The model embodies the transition from purely mechanical innovation to the marriage of engineering and aesthetic sophistication.

1937 Packard Darrin Convertible Victoria displayed by Ralph Marano
A rolling work of art, the Packard Darrin Convertible Victoria is widely regarded as one of the most elegant American cars of the Classic Era. Designed by Howard “Dutch” Darrin and built on a Packard chassis, its sweeping lines, low stance and custom coachwork redefined American luxury styling. Beneath the sculpted exterior sat Packard’s renowned straight-eight engine — a powerplant synonymous with smoothness and prestige. The 1937 Darrin represents the pinnacle of bespoke pre-war design and craftsmanship.

WHY IT MATTERS

Pre-war automobiles were laboratories of innovation. Multi-valve engines, advanced metallurgy, coach built bodies and endurance racing breakthroughs laid the groundwork for modern automotive engineering. These four vehicles illustrate how competition, craftsmanship and bold design converged to create machines that remain benchmarks nearly a century later.

WHAT ELSE TO EXPECT

The Heritage Invitational is more than a concours-style display — it’s a full-throttle celebration of racing heritage and refined hospitality.

Friday highlights include:

IROC Racing Exhibition — A nod to the International Race of Champions, bringing together skilled drivers in equally prepared cars for pure competition.

LAS VEGAS, NV – This year, the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard and Goodwood Revival will host an extraordinary reunion: the cars that were part of the iconic 1-2-3 finish at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans.

For the first time in a decade, the three Ford GT Mk IIs driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon, Ken Miles and Denny Hulme, and Ronnie Bucknum and Dick Hutcherson will not only appear together, but also run.

These legendary cars – chassis P/1046, P/1015, and P/1016 – will take to the Goodwood Hill during the Festival of Speed as the event celebrates some of motorsport’s greatest showdowns with the theme ‘The Rivals – Epic Racing Duels’. Entirely apt, as 2026 marks the 60th anniversary of the intense battle between the combined forces of Ford Motor Company and Carroll Shelby’s Shelby American, and Ferrari.

In September, the trio will reunite once more at Goodwood Revival, where they will run on the historic Motor Circuit, offering fans a rare chance to witness these icons in action.

The Duke of Richmond CBE DL commented: “I am absolutely delighted that the historic 1-2-3 Ford GT Mk IIs will be reunited at Goodwood this year. The legendary result of the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans is immortalised in motorsport history, and it will be incredibly special to see these three cars run together once again. We are hugely grateful to the Shelby family, Miller Family Automobile Foundation and Rob Kaufman, RK Motors for making this possible.”

“An intense personal rivalry between three influential figures in the auto industry sparked a fierce competition during the golden era of sports car racing,” said Aaron Shelby, Board Member of Carroll Shelby International and grandson of the automotive icon. “The epic struggle of Ford and Shelby against Ferrari played out at tracks around the globe, culminating at Le Mans in 1966.
In addition to attendance by the Shelby family, Shelby American plans to have an important presence at the Festival of Speed and Team Shelby, the international club, will bring a group from across the globe to the event. Previous Carroll Shelby Spirit Award recipients include Ken Miles, Peter Brock, Edsel B. Ford II, Dan Gurney, Bruce Meyer, Don Prudhomme, Bob Bondurant, Allen Grant, Parnelli Jones and Craig Jackson.

Paris, France – January 30, 2026 (revised sale’s date & time), Bonhams|Cars will present “Les Belles Endormies” a Collection of 11 collector cars, all offered without reserve, at its Polo de Paris Sale. Those cars were discovered lying dormant gathering dust in a garage in Switzerland, all impeccably stored on axle stands waiting to be brought back to life.

The Collection was assembled by Pierre Strinati, a pioneer car enthusiast who started buying cars in the 1950s. In less than a decade, Mr Strinati assembled a collection like few had done before. It included some of the most important motorcars of the 1930s and 1950s such as a Talbot Lago T150C Goutte d’Eau, an Alfa Romeo 8C 2900, a Mercedes-Benz 30SL Gullwing or a BMW 507 (the last two bought new). He sold most of his cars in the 1980s when traffic got too dense and speed limits were introduced!

He however kept the cars he loved the most: highlights include a 1934 Mercedes-Benz 500K Coupé with coachwork by Vanvooren, a 1938 Delage D8-120 Cabriolet with coachwork by Henri Chapron and a unique 1939 Voisin C30 “Aerodyne.”

Maximilien Gagnebin, Senior Specialist at Bonhams|Cars, commented: “This garage-find Collection is maybe one of the last of its kind with examples showcasing the heyday of car manufacturing. Those Sleeping Beauties have never been offered publicly before, most of them having been purchased by Mr Strinati in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Their condition is a testament to their long-term owner. They should be carefully preserved through careful restoration to maintain their originality but most importantly they deserve to be driven as intended and shown to the public! ”

1938 Delage D8-120 Cabriolet with coachwork by Henri Chapron ( Bonhams|Cars

Representing the ultimate expression of the eight-cylinder Delage, the D8-120 Cabriolet was ordered in December 1938 by the Swiss Delage and Delahaye representative Albert Goy of Garage du Kursaal in Geneva for their customer, Mr. Gossweiler of Bern. Delahaye commissioned the cabriolet body from the celebrated Parisian coachbuilder Henri Chapron, who completed the work the following summer.

Pierre Strinati bought the Delage in the early 1960s from Carrosserie Graber, who fully repainted the car and retrimmed the hood in April 1961. The paintwork was changed to two-tone light over dark grey (probably during Mr Strinati’s ownership), which suits the D8 very well. The leather interior remains original, as does the rest of the car.

A unique 1939 Voisin C30 “Aerodyne” Bonhams|Cars

A fantastic insight into futuristic design of the late 1930s, this unique 1939 Voisin C30 is one of only five known survivors of some 20 examples built. Although to this day, the author of this bodywork remains to this day a mystery. The car was first registered in the French Alpes Maritimes before returning to Paris. Mr Strinati acquired it in 1963 and imported it into Switzerland. He treated the car to some light restorative work in the 1980s painting it in BMW’s Savanna Beige from, what we believe, its original green. The interior remains largely original and very bright with its clear plexiglass apertures in the roof.

Other highlights of the Collection include (All Offered Without Reserve):

1941 BMW 335 Cabriolet, coachwork by Autenrieth

1956 Jaguar XK140 Coupé

It was 6:00 a.m. on a crisp fall morning last October, with the sun just getting ready to pop over the horizon. I was walking into the Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week at The Breakers mansion in Newport, R.I., under the spotlights and fanfare awaiting me. It was like a dream and all I could think was, “How the heck did I make it here?”

All the activity going on around me was hypnotizing. It was like a human beehive with the sound of power tools and people everywhere shouting out instruction. And the lights. Oh, the lights from The Breakers. That only added to the magic and set the stage for a dreamlike atmosphere. Indeed, there was electricity in the air.

As I walked toward the field, I was greeting by a young lady who inquired whether I would like coffee or an espresso. Wow, this was amazing. I put in my order for a black coffee, and with a gracious smile, she obliged and handed me a coffee and thanked me for coming. Amazing!

As the sun broke over the concours field, it felt like there was magic in the air. Bill Renda

I approached my car left in its show position the night before, and I could see my plan not to cover the car perfectly worked out. “Cruella,” my 1963 Cadillac Series 62 convertible, was draped in a beautiful glaze of morning dew, so I could see a good wipe down would do most of the detail work for me. As I gazed around the field and breathed in all the sights, I realized I had just entered my vision of the promised land with a feeling of royalty.

I wiped my Cadillac down and exchanged pleasantries with the gentleman next to me doing the same. I offered an extra towel to the man on the other side of my car and breathed in the magic and camaraderie.

I was greeted with morning pastry, and then breakfast at eight. There were so many delightful smiles from people so early in the morning that it was like a dream. I had never experienced anything like this. Just the night before, when we had checked in and received our credentials, we were each gifted a gorgeous leather bag with beautiful goodies inside, such as a leather keychain and hats, along with other niceties.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1200" src="https://www.oldcarsweekly.com/uploads/2025/12/audrain1.jpg" alt="The reflection of Renda’s

As I set up the morning of the concours, I met some incredible people and was assigned two concierges in case I needed anything — and I mean anything — from a coffee, to food, to even a mixed drink!

I was also assigned a car manager of sorts. He took down my phone number and called me when judges were at my car, and handled any other needs I had. It was amazing.

The day was absolutely a magical display of all makes and models of cars, from early iron to classic icons. Everyone was so bright and cheery.

I had good conversation with Jay Leno and had him sign my lanyard. I also took down the names and numbers of the new friends I made there, and I watched my best friend, Janiene, whom I took along, relax and take pictures.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1200" height="1200" src="https://www.oldcarsweekly.com/uploads/2025/12/audrain.jpg" alt="Bill Renda (right) met Jay Leno at the

At the end of the day, I received an honorable mention and a ribbon (a fancy way of saying third place in my class), and was shocked to receive them, as the competition was heavy in this class. It was an absolute honor, to be sure.

As the show concluded, we said our good-byes and packed our memories away, but it turns out the best part was yet to come. Ah, yes, the exit!

As we drove down the staging lane to leave, we found it lined with people who were applauding and waving, taking pictures and shouting “Congratulations!” It honestly brought tears to my eyes. Not only did this hit me emotionally, but as we left, we saw people lined up on both sides of the street doing the same, a vision I will never forget.

The hardest part of experiencing this is now I look at local shows differently, not in a bad way, but as my friend, Laurie says, ‘Welcome to the other side.”

Many thanks to the people who put on this event by financing a car show that is truly a magical experience. I will never forget this moment.
