Cartersville, GA – The Savoy Automobile Museum announced the opening of its latest temporary exhibit, Corvette: The Early Years. Following a positive debut at General Motors’ 1953 Motorama show in New York City, the Chevrolet Corvette rushed into production. Widely recognized as “America’s Sports Car,” this fiberglass-bodied, two-door, two-seater filled the void of a domestically built roadster. Boasting eight generations of manufactured success, the Corvette has become an American icon. In this exhibition, we are focusing on the early years, showcasing a variety of special examples from the first three generations: C1 (1953-1962), C2 (1963-1967), and C3 (1968-1982). The exhibit is on display now through May 31, 2026.

Cartersville, GA – Savoy Automobile Museum announced the opening of its latest temporary exhibit, Small Block Muscle, which will be on display now through November 9, 2025. The small block engine was a lightweight, compact V8 engine designed by Chevrolet in 1955. It combined performance with practicality. Other manufacturers also had their own small block engines that were high in performance and did not fit the big block category. The exhibit features various manufacturers’ small block vehicles through the years.

Cartersville, GA – The Savoy Automobile Museum in Cartersville, GA, announced the opening of its latest temporary exhibit, Stunning Studebakers. 

The Studebaker brothers, Henry and Clem, established a blacksmith and wagon shop in 1852, and by 1875 it was the “largest vehicle house in the world” due to the U.S. Army buying their wagons. The company survived: transitions from wagons to cars, The Great Depression, two World Wars, mergers, and near bankruptcies to finally succumb and produce its last vehicle in 1963. Please enjoy this collection of various models through the years.

Authors to Speak About Japanese Collectible Cars

Cartersville, GA – Savoy Automobile Museum announced a TIRESIDE CHAT is scheduled for December 6, 2024, at 7:00 pm for a discussion on Japanese collectible cars with authors of the ultimate book on Japanese performance cars called “A Quiet Greatness”. Authors Mark Brinker, Myron Vernis, and Moderator Ken Gross discuss the Japanese cars that are part of the exhibit at the museum and continue that discussion on other historic Japanese collectible cars. Tickets to the program only are available online or at the door while supplies last. To attend the reception, a pre-purchased ticket is required. Reception begins at 5:30 pm.

There are four main factors when considering which cars meet the supercar status: performance, price, design, and rareness. They can transcend car culture and venture into pop culture with their incredible designs and performance. Many were immortalized on posters that hung on people’s walls at home. Explore the various supercars assembled for this special exhibit and dream of driving one of these cars on the open road. From iconic Ferraris to American muscle, this exhibition showcases a blend of Italian elegance, British sophistication, and raw American horsepower.

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Savoy Automobile Museum announced, in honor of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, the opening of its newest temporary exhibition, Women in Motorsports. It is a collaboration with Women in Motorsports North America (WIMNA). Motor sport events, in which women could compete, have existed since 1897 at the first known women’s motorized tricycle race. There is a long history of women in motorsports, and this exhibition focuses on well-known women racers, as well as up-and-coming regional women racers. It steps through the various race series, featuring racecars from the NHRA JD, Drag Racing League, U.S. Legend Cars, SCCA, IMSA, American Sprint Car Series, NHRA Top Fuel, and Indy Car Series. The exhibition is open now through July 7, 2024. Admission to the museum is complimentary for members, $15 for adults, $5 for youth 12 and under, and complimentary for children 2 years of age and under. To further the outreach and provide opportunities for girls to experience the Women In Motorsports exhibition, girls 18 years of age or younger can gain complimentary admission to Savoy during the month of March during normal business hours (general admission). In conjunction with the opening of Women in Motorsports, a special evening Tireside Chat is scheduled for March 16, 2024. CARTERSVILLE, GA – Savoy Automobile Museum announced the opening of its newest temporary exhibit, What’s in Chip’s Garage? Chip Foose is an automobile designer, artist, and star of the reality show “Overhaulin’.” He has won numerous awards for his work including the prestigious Ridler Award, which he has won three times and, he is a member of the Hot Rod Hall of Fame. He started working in his father’s custom car shop at age seven; he studied at the Art Center College of Design and worked for Boyd Coddington. While he has built exquisite cars for others, the real question is “What does Chip drive?” Join us for a never-been-shown display of Chip’s personal cars. This exhibition will be on display now through June 9, 2024. All vehicles are on loan from Chip Foose Collection.

CARTERSVILLE, GEORGIA – Savoy Automobile Museum in Cartersville, GA announced the opening of thier newest temporary exhibit, Rolling Sculptures: European Art Deco. Art Deco became a worldwide movement focused on the future, modernizing industrial innovations by embracing a style of elegance and sophistication. It impacted nearly every visual medium. The Art Deco period occurred mainly between the two world wars. The fluidity and grace of Art Deco design complimented the aerodynamic structure of automobiles, typically resulting in two-door coupes and roadsters with sweeping fender lines, long, exaggerated hoods, intricate chrome detailing, prominent headlights, and tapered trunks that reflect the glamour and luxury of this iconic movement. This exhibit showcases 1930’s European Art Deco vehicles.
