Hershey, PA – The Museum’s Spring/Summer featured 2026 exhibit, “Imperial: Chrysler’s Handcrafted Masterpiece,” celebrates 100 years of Chrysler’s flagship luxury car. Launched in 1926, the “Imperial” name reflected its exclusivity and advanced engineering and quickly became a symbol of prestige, rivaling elite brands like Packard, Cadillac, and Lincoln. Favored by executives and royalty, the Imperial set trends with bold styling and top-tier craftsmanship. Custom coachwork by firms like Derham and LeBaron furthered its reputation for exclusivity. In 1955, Imperial became its own brand within Chrysler, a status it held until 1975, with a brief return in the 1980s.

Imperial was known for engineering innovation, debuting features like wind-tunnel design (1934 Airflow), four-wheel disc brakes (1949), power steering and fully electric windows (1951), curved side glass in American cars (1957), “Auto-Pilot” cruise control (1958), and America’s first production-ready four-wheel anti-lock brakes (1971) and first four-wheel production caliber disc-brakes (1974).

Imperial made headlines with its 1926 cross-country endurance run, served as the Indianapolis 500 pace car, and transported royalty, including King George VI & Queen Elizabeth and Queen Elizabeth II & Prince Philip. It was also used in JFK’s funeral procession.

The exhibit will showcase elite vehicles such as Imperials originally owned by Walter P. Chrysler, his wife, Della Forker Chrysler, and their son, Walter P. Chrysler, Jr. All Imperial design generations will be represented. Other highlights of rare or unique examples include a 1931 Waterhouse Victoria, a 1951 Crown Imperial with early disc brakes, a 1935 Imperial C2 Airflow, a 1955 Imperial Newport, a 1959 Imperial Crown with a stainless steel roof and Nelson Rockefeller’s 1960 limousine.

The exhibition begins with a Museum Members’ reception on May 8th. It opens to the public on Saturday, May 9th.

Hershey, PA – The AACA Museum announced that Greyhound Lines recently donated their collection of historic memorabilia to America’s Transportation Experience. The gift, containing thousands of landmark transportation documents and artifacts from their headquarters in Dallas, Texas, arrived earlier this summer. Their dedicated bus team of experts is managing the addition of the collection to its inventory.

Greyhound Lines originated in 1914 as a Minnesota-based service for iron ore miners. The company adopted the name “Greyhound” in the late 1920s after a successful marketing campaign. Over time, the bus service evolved into a nationwide transportation network. It became the largest intercity bus carrier in the US, playing roles during the Great Depression and World War II, before diversifying its operations in the 1970s. After changes in ownership and restructuring, the bus service was sold to FlixBus in 2021, forming the largest motorcoach network in North America.

Tailgate Travelers: Classic Station Wagons 

The Tailgate Travelers: Classic Station Wagons exhibit rolls into the Museum as their spring/summer 2025 featured exhibit. Originally dubbed “station wagons” because they were used to carry passengers to and from train stations. They soon gained popularity as family haulers. The spotlight is on the vehicle’s impact on generations of family road trips and decades of daily motoring.

Don Allen Chevrolet Dealership Retrospective

The museum welcomes the Don Allen Chevrolet Dealership Retrospective to the Williams-Clyne Gallery. In the 1950s, the Don Allen Chevrolet Dealership became the first “mega-dealer” by establishing 16 locations including New York City, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Miami, and other American cities. The exhibit features a 1963 Split-Window Corvette from the Don Allen Dealership in Miami.

Corvette: Then & Now 

The Corvette: Then & Now exhibit in the Benefactor’s Gallery continues their Legacy Series by contrasting iconic Corvette generations. The car’s evolution is presented with a front-engine 1954 model donated by the Richard O. Ullman family and a current C8-generation example.

Hershey, PA – On March 22nd at 11 AM (EST), join the AACA Museum on-site or online for a live webcast presenting great stories from Great Race X-Cup Teams. Each year the Great Race, a nine-day time-controlled road rally, hosts X-Cup Teams of high school, college, and technical school students who prepare their cars and drive them in the rally. The teams are from across the nation and frequently are competitive with some of the most experienced Great Race Teams.

The webcast will be co-hosted by the RPM Foundation, whose mission is to encourage youth to get involved in restoring and preserving antique and classic vehicles through mentorship and experiences like the Great Race. Hershey, PA – Join the AACA Museum for a panel discussion with the owners of the three G.T. 350s now on display. 

• Glen Hill, the exhibit’s guest curator, has owned his 1967 G.T350 for 40+ years. Over that time, he restored the car to factory condition, which required locating a correct engine and a variety of additional parts. 
• Larry Schaffer purchased his 1965 new. It was stolen in the mid-1970s and returned to him approximately 35 years later through the assistance of SAAC. 
• The final presenter, Chuck Cantwell, is a Shelby American employee who served as the project engineer for design and development of the G.T.350 program in 1965. His blue 1966 G.T.350 shows the evolution of the first-year design. His experiences provide an intimate, first-person perspective into this fascinating period of automotive history.

Hershey, PA – Their “Forgotten Features” exhibit spotlights ingenious, unusual, curious, and oddball options from decades past. These innovations sought to attract buyers and serve the needs of drivers and passengers. Some were wildly popular, while others failed to resonate with consumers.

The exhibit is a trip down memory lane full of fondly (and not-so-fondly) remembered automotive gizmos no longer available. Among the features highlighted are retractable convertible roofs, continental kits, slide-away steering wheels, hidden and pop-up headlights, spectator third-row seating, swivel seats, “fat boy” steering wheels, hidden fuel caps, windshield visors, hood ornaments, rumble seats, golf bag doors, T-tops, wood-grain side panels, and many more.

Also, the Williams-Clyne Showroom Gallery is home to Shelby Mustangs this fall and winter. The display of vintage Shelby Mustangs is presented by the Shelby American Automobile Club and includes three GT350s: 1965, 1966, and 1967 models.

Board of Directors President, Hank Hallowell introduces three vehicles included in the Museum’s Forgotten Features exhibit: 1978 Dodge Magnum EX with T-top and disappearing headlights; 1961 Ford Thunderbird with a retractable power top and glide-away steering wheel; 1973 Chrysler Town & Country Station Wagon with 3rd-row spectator seating and wood grain exterior.

Finally, the Museum’s “Get Your Husky On” Husqvarna exhibit has been extended. Exhibit highlights showcase the world renown marque.

Hershey, PA – AACA Museum’s “Museum Live” events encourage participants to join them onsite or online as they address compelling topics related to America’s Transportation Experience. Their fall Museum Live webcast, “The Watts of Yesteryear: Electric Cars from the Early 20th Century,” focuses on electric-powered vehicles’ innovative and unique history. Register now and join them onsite or online on Saturday, November 9th, at 11 A.M. ET.

Electric cars have been a hot topic recently, but their history dates back to the 1800s. Host Jon Seltenheim introduces Kevin A. Wilson, author of The Electric Vehicle Revolution. Wilson, a writer for Autoweek and Car and Driver, presents an overview of the electric car market from the late 1800s through the early 1920s. Then, representatives from The Henry Ford Museum, The Studebaker Museum, The Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles, and The Tampa Bay Auto Museum share insights about the early electric vehicles in their collections.

The museum announced that it will also have a 1919 Milburn Light Electric Model 27L “Opera Coupe” automobile on temporary display for this program. This early electric car is on short-term loan courtesy of our friends at the Boyertown Museum of Historical Vehicles.
